Evra patch transdermal contraceptive is a safe, simple, and affordable birth control method that you wear on the skin of your belly, upper arm, butt, or back and it doesn’t fall off from the body once placed correctly. The hormones contained on the patch are absorbed through your skin.
It prevents pregnancy by stopping sperm from meeting an egg (fertilization). Specifically, the patch stops ovulation (no egg is produced) and also thickens the mucus on the cervix which makes it harder for sperm to swim to an egg.

Dosage: A new patch has to be put on every week for 3 weeks then you get a week off before you repeat the cycle.
Composition: It contains hormones progestin and estrogen that prevent pregnancy once released in the bloodstream.
Side effects: The hormones in the patch can cause bleeding between periods, headaches, tender breasts, or nausea but side effects vary on an individual basis.
Please note that a birth control patch does not provide protection against sexually transmitted infections including HIV/AIDS, so you may still need to use a condom as well.
